Despite the
adverse conditions in the prison system some inmates chose to dedicate their
time and effort in pursuing their artistic talent. We decided to reward their
endeavors by publishing selected novels, poetry, short stories, and art work
for your reading and viewing pleasure.

I have languished in a prison cell for 23 years and through the painful passage of these years I have strongly maintained my innocence and asserted that I was framed by several rogue cops, who utilized me as a mere pawn to further their careers within the Rampart-CRASH Police Department. With over 1,600,000 Americans behind bars today, and another 3,500,000 Americans on house arrest, probation or parole, the American justice system is doing just fine. USA has the largest percentage of prison population in the western world.
This web site is designed specifically for the purpose of facilitating positive communication with prison inmates. More then half of them are doing hard time for non violent or drug related crimes hanging by a thread in an environment designed to punish people rather then to rehabilitate them. Many inmates have turned to a life of crime due to lack of education. As the Little Hoover Commission reported in 1994, "Fifty-six percent of male inmates cannot function at a ninth grade reading level” and "the vast majority never have developed skills to hold a job successfully."Taxpayers tend to complain about the money spent on the system, because it costs more to house an inmate than to educate a child. Currently, it costs around $20,000 per year to house an inmate, however no one is pushing the government to spend that much on education.
We can’t have it both ways; something’s got to give.
